Over the past decade, the Emerald ash borer has been causing major environmental and economic damage in Minnesota. We can fight back however. Ash trees can be treated with insecticide as a preventative measure to an infestation. The treatments must be repeated every two to three years for continued protaction. If you do not wish to use this treatment process, it is advised that you remove the tree before it becomes a hazard. Ash trees become very brittle when in decline or dead and can be very expensive to remove.
